High-Time Pilots and Experienced Ground Crew
Helipower pilots are high time, with a broad experience base. Our pilots are highly skilled in low-level aerial work and other complex operations, including precision sling load, powerline inspection, aerial firefighting, surveillance, spotting, survey, and mustering. They possess extensive knowledge of both the aircraft they operate and the regions we serve, ensuring a safe and excellent service.
Our ground crew are experienced in helicopter support operations and hold Dogman and Basic Rigger tickets, Dangerous Goods, and HR/MR driver’s licences.
Helipower pilots are current on the following Accredited Helicopter Safety Courses:
Crew Resource Management and Flying in the Wire Environment
Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
Dangerous Goods
Low Level Proficiency
Safety First
This is demonstrated by our thorough aircraft maintenance, pre-flight checks and crew briefings, pilot and ground crew skills and experience, and our induction and training programs. We have implemented a Safety Management System, and regular audits by contractors and internal company audits are conducted to ensure that we maintain the best practices and the highest quality.
Our aircraft are equipped with the following safety features:
For over-water flights - emergency pop-out floats, liferafts, lifejackets, and sealed first-aid kits
Spidertracks real-time satellite aircraft tracking with automated SOS capability
Aircraft fitted with Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT)
Pilots carry Personal Locating Beacons (PLBs)
Aircraft fitted with UHF and VHF radio communications
Setting High Standards for Performance
Helipower operates its own aircraft, including one Eurocopter AS350 B3, two Bell
407s, and two Robinson R66 aircraft. Our aircraft are maintained to the highest standards,
ensuring that aircraft are operational when required, eliminating any disruption to operations.
Maintenance is carried out over and above scheduled requirements and components are replaced prior to the end of their scheduled life – there can be no room for equipment failure when operating in remote locations.
Our services are deployed with attention to detail and precision planning. We provide practical solutions to the significant environmental, logistical,
payload capacity, weather and other challenges. We have a demonstrated ability to get the job done without compromising quality or safety.
To minimise fuel ferry time and optimise on-site capabilities, Helipower strategically positions fuel depots across northern and central Australia. We are equipped to sustain extended field operations. Our resources include a bulk fuel tanker with a capacity of 45,000 litres, approved IBC fuel units, and dedicated ground support crews.
We continuously strive for innovation by harnessing the latest technologies and
providing aircraft tailored specifically for our contract clients.
Air-conditioned aircraft for fatigue management
Auxilliary fuel tanks (to extend flight time). These tanks have in-flight fuel transfer capability, increasing the hours on task
Synthetic Vision (Garmin G500) to reduce the pilot workload and improve situational awareness
Powered tablet rails (allows in-flight charging of tablets and safe mounting of devices)
Role equipment, including cargo cages, long-lines, nets, bambi buckets, concrete kibble etc
